As a project specialist,聽Mark Roeder聽is involved in several project phases, from schematic design through construction documents. He also helps with construction administration tasks as needed. He has recently worked on the new Sun Prairie and Neenah high schools and is about to begin projects with the Muskego-Norway and Ladysmith school districts.
Mark enjoys the variety of experiences that he has at 海角社区. 鈥淭here are so many different parts of a project that I鈥檝e had an opportunity to work on, including design and interaction with the client,鈥� he says. 鈥淚 feel fortunate to see every aspect of a project as it develops.鈥�
Mark remembers the moment that launched his career in architecture. 鈥淚 had been interested in architecture from a young age, but it clicked for me in an undergraduate class on environmental psychology,鈥� he says. 鈥淭here was a lesson on the built environment and how it affects people, which got me interested in how we can design spaces that are comfortable for our occupants. From there, I decided to pursue design.鈥� He went on to complete a bachelor鈥檚 degree in urban and regional studies from UW-Green Bay and a master鈥檚 degree in architecture from UW-Milwaukee.
Mark continues to be driven by the desire to create good design. He is always looking forward to the moment when the clients can experience their new spaces. 鈥淚 had the privilege of working on Forest Edge Elementary School, and I toured the building with the school district and the community at their reopening last fall,鈥� he says. 鈥淚t was so rewarding to see the students and teachers get excited about their project and watch them take ownership of the space. That makes it all worth it.鈥�
Outside of the office, Mark enjoys spending time with his wife, Casey, and their dog, Finnley, who they adopted in 2020. 鈥淗e鈥檚 been a lot of fun. We enjoy taking him outside and going on walks,鈥� Mark says. Mark and his wife also like to attend theater performances and concerts around the city, including many of Milwaukee鈥檚 summer festivals.
