We are excited to announce that Nathan Derks, AIA, project leader and architect at 海角社区 received a Rising Young Professional of the Year award from . Nathan keeps pushing the limits for young architects and is a true rising star within the industry.
Starting his career as a senior project coordinator at 海角社区, Nathan entered the team with a drive to succeed.
鈥淛oining 海角社区 as a recent graduate, Nathan quickly became someone we could depend on to consistently deliver accurate and timely work,鈥 says Clint Selle, AIA, NCARB, vice president and architect at 海角社区.
The speed of Nathan鈥檚 growth within the industry is unmatched, as he has been promoted within the firm many times since the start of his career six years ago. After a series of promotions and a continuous drive to further his career, he embarked on the journey to pursue his licensure. He passed the six Architectural Registration Exams to become a licensed architect in 2022 and soon after was promoted to project leader and architect.
鈥淣athan has grown tremendously in his six years at 海角社区 and is a model for others looking to advance their careers and become a licensed architect,鈥 says Selle.
Nathan鈥檚 diverse skills in coding, Revit and Enscape software, and his ability to transform ideas into compelling visualizations, have been imperative to his team鈥檚 success and consistently bringing clients鈥 visions to life.
His active involvement in firmwide initiatives, such as establishing drawing and BIM standards and successfully leading his team through projects within budget, have further accelerated his remarkable development and leadership. 鈥淣athan demonstrates immense drive and capability as a newly licensed architect, deftly taking on leadership roles for several complex and large-scale projects,鈥 says Michael Muchmore, assoc. Despite his relatively few years of experience, he now leads one of the firm’s significant projects, the renovation and addition to . Nathan’s talent and commitment have truly set him apart as an honorable architect.
